What's the best software for burning Linux distros to CD or DVD?

I've learned that burning Linux distros to CD or DVD can sometimes be a good as or as imperfect as the software one is using. The slower the burning is, the better the end image for running it perfectly.

Was wondering what members are using here to burn their favourite Linux distros to CD or DVD?

I just used the default windows burner because I am not too bothered with the end result which I probably should be. @"dmull" I prefer CDs and DVDs for OS because I like to keep the CDs and use them again but with a USB I would rather use that for storing files; it's all personal preference though.

Very understandable.I have quite a few USB drives and I use one 128 Gig drive that I use as a multiboot install for all of my windows/linux/utilities.

That's a pretty good idea. I am thinking of getting an external HDD and installing a OS on it and have it as a sort of mobile OS that I can use on more than one PC.

I would recommend Easy2Boot with RMPrepUSB.
Thanks for the suggestion. I just checked it out, and comes with detailed instructions. Well worth trying out.

any cd/dvd burning software will get the job done. windows has built in cd-dvd burning capabilities.
I prefer to use ImgBurn, it's very powerful burning software.
as for burning speed, i would say it doesn't matter. Get some good quality blank disc and you can burn them on high speed without fearing whether the discs will be readable.

Not exactly burning CDs, but I've had a lot of troubles with some of the USB live installers. For burning CDs I would have to agree, the slower the better, and I also got in the habit of being patient enough to let it verify afterwards. Quality of disks can play a bit part too.

With the USB install methods, I have been using Rufus lately with a lot of success, and DD in linux does a good job too with the right options/arguments.

I've never had any real issues with Brazero on linux, as long as disks were burnt slowly and verified. One thing I found is that it's worth the little bit extra wait to make sure you have a good burn, as there is nothing worse than getting 90% of an OS installed, and finding it can't read a file or you get some nasty error that you spend the next hour trying to sort out!

I have burnt many discs, CD or DVD, and honestly can say that I have never once had any issues with them.

Discs are becoming a thing of the past and everything is moving to the USB drives.
