every one of us had a good/bad moments in his/her life, if you had the opportunity to turn back the hands of time, which year or age will you choose ( and to change/re-live what in your past ).

Professionally, that would be the late 90s. Prior to the full impact of H1-B visa worker abuse and offshoring abuse here in the U.S. Finished an EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) integration into an ERP (Enterprise Requirements Planning) system, company was looking at XML and ANX (Automotive Network Exchange) - this was all Industrial B2B e-commerce.

Then came a merger, dot com bubble burst, etc. Found I had too much experience, expertise, training, and age.

It was good while it lasted.

The more I read about the big Corp take over of the US as a whole (which arguably started in the 1970s, institutionalized during the Reagan era with the adoption of the neoliberal doctrine, culminated during the Clinton push to formally Globalize the World economy etc..) the more I'm convinced that the US decline has effectively started... Its military might will not prevent that as it will implode from within just like the former USSR.... Capitalists greed kiss of death.

Sad part of that is it's going to take most of us with it. As testified by the big financial melt down in 2008, we're so damn vulnerable. If the US sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold. By design of course!

Gentlepeople:

You are nailing it right on the head. Corporate America is ruining the U.S. (in my opinion) in search of the short-term profit. I apologize for my so-called countrypeople to you non-U.S. folks for spreading the misery to you all - it is embarrassing for me as an American. Health care, education, prisons have become profit centers for these low-lifes. The conditions here paved the way for Trump's rise - reminds me of the Versailles (?) treaty and the Great Depression paving the way for Hitler.

Oops, there I go again, ranting on my soapbox. :pardon:

My heart aches for today's young people - they have so much harder for starting out.

By design indeed. Yanis Varoufakis, an eminent Greek economist and ex-Greece finance minister wrote a brilliant book in which he explained (among other things) how that design came into being right after WWII. The book is entitled "The Global Minotaur" (2011); pretty instructive and highly recommended for inquisitive minds.

For people who prefer a talk about it there are these ones on Youtube.com:

I would say when I was about 7 because you live the best bit of your life when you are really young. I used to hang out with friends all the time, and we used to play childish games like tag. It was pretty fun, and kept me in shape.
