When did you start becoming a webmaster?

Back in 1997 I had my first website (brutalemeiden.nl) a Dutch chatbox for girls, but I was bought out by a Dutch television station a couple of years later.

Darn! Any way, it could still happen with the many domains you own.

OK, back to the topic. My role in Websites has been mostly as a hobby. My first one was in 2000. To help a friend with a birding Website. We're still working on it.

I started in 2011. It was a simple blog on gadgets. I used to write on mobile-phones, HD Cameras and PC. tech9x.com
I couldn't continue it as my interests changed and I focused more on my electronics hobby.
Now I have 3 websites running and all of them are Wordpress based. I'm in my early twenties. This is the age when technically minded boys like me do something cool.

Am looking forward to your suggestions on WordPress. In addition to the ones you've already made. From a Webmaster point of view, what is it about WordPress that you like so much?

I like WordPress because:
1. It has huge database of plugins which you can use in a smart way to create any kind of websites.
2. It is light < 6MB.
3. Highly customizable.
4. You can change the theme/child theme within seconds.
5. Open Source CMS.
6. Object Oriented PHP framework.

Security issues and hacking are real issues with Wordpress. So I'd say there is a down side to Wordpress.

I guess your right - there was a string of hack attempts because of the popularity of wordpress. Also, maybe the world (I exaggerate) is too dependent on wordpress as a CMS, it's choking out competition.

Agreed. Some real competition would be great.

There's also flat press for those that want something that looks like wordpress but uses a flat file instead of a database, but the plugins don't even compare to Wordpress.

Right. If something is as popular as Word Press is, then there's of course many more tutorials available and it's easier to find solutions on the Web.

I started in 1997 on Angelfire. I learned manual coding right away and haven't stopped since! I eventually learned PHP and took off coding forums from there. I took a break for a couple years and now I want to get back into it.
