Which software do you use to download YouTube movies from?

I was just wondering what software people are using to download their YouTube movies with? I'd like something a bit better where I can edit YouTube movies, as well as convert YouTube music to MP3, all with one software program.

Nice plug for my next project - it's not software, but an online tool that converts Youtube to Mp3. Still very much in testing, but it saves you the hassle of having to download the video and going through the process.

I'm looking to add other sites like DailyMotion, Flickr and Blip. It's especially good for people looking to turn videos into a podcast (e.g., you can rip the audio off a regular video series and listen to it on your commute).

Thanks Genesis! - It currently is up and works for youtube, I'll let you guys know when there's additions.

Hardest part is keeping up to date with how these hosts handle their videos.

i use "free studio" its a freeware with many functions from download, upload and convert pictures, video and many more formats..
i use it 2 years never had problems..

Firefox with a very lightweight addon Download YouTube Videos as MP4

The only disadvantage is that you can only download the MP4 supported resolutions. As presented on the screenshot, although the movie has 4K resolution, I could only download the 720p.

Hmm, I mostly just download the audio track of Youtube videos as mp3s. If you Google "Youtube to mp3" you get a lot of good online converters. You could probably do the same for video by replacing"mp3" with "mp4" or "mkv", or something.

There are many youtube download programs and browser extensions .
But i love this nice in java written tool Jdownloader
It has alot of other features too , options to add your favorite premium download host like uploaded etc...
And it works on multiple platforms .

I use Mozilla firefox plugin called "Flashgot". It can grab link of audio, video, swf from any site.

While there have been many plugins over years to download the clips, I don't use them at all to download full movies. However, I sometimes need short royalty free clips for video editing (mostly HD) and since I use Opera browser, I basically utilize the "Download YouTube Videos as MP4" extension and "Video Downloader Multiformat".

I do not like installing software to download from youtube. Many of the software downloads available contain viruses or Malware.

I do like to use a website, however. I like to use http://www.keepvid.com .
