The templates may be free, but looks as though they come with limited functionality. The templates are not supported either.

I'm sorry cjuday. I can't help you. Only suggestion I can make is for you to Google for alternatives as there are good ones out there. You don't need to use WHMCS. And you don't need to create your own script, unless you really want to.
