I've been using our Gigarank Image Hosting for a while now. And am curious to find out whether others are using it too.

There is a link to it in our Menu Bar:

What I like about it is how fast it is:

1. Select image on your computer
2. Upload the image
3. Click on BBCode link [copy] link
4. Paste the link - already has

I haven't even looked into it as yet Genesis, I just had a quick perusal at the TOS, the right to refuse service made me feel a little edgy, I realise all sites retain this right but it did make me feel uncomfortable with considering using it here seeing it in black and white so to speak.

Do you get an account with the service like Photobuket and the such, seems it would be a little difficult to track down your images if there wasn't such a feature!

Nope. I really don't know where those images go. We'll probably need to ask Chris how it works once we've uploaded an image.

I've been using it ever since you started offering it and have found it very user friendly. It's the only thing I ever use to upload photos for quick and easy placement in various places. It's great having all the options so clearly laid out. Hope you'll keep offering the service.

Thank you :)

I use it for exactly the same reason, posting images in forums, support tickets and things like that, we have plenty of server space and bandwidth so if people use it and find it useful then we will continue to offer the services for free.

I've been using it, especially since image shack started to require payed subscription...photobucket is awesome and all but it's a pain to have to log in every time you quickly need a picture

I haven't logged into Imgur for a long while as the tool at Gigarank is just so fast. And since changing to Windows 7 earlier in the year there's that very handy "Snipping Tool". Can't get better than that.

So what if you upload an image today and decide in a few weeks time you want to use that image in a forum post, how do you find the url to the image? Do we have to keep a log on our PC of all the image urls we upload here, if so I don't see how that is any easier than just logging into somewhere like Photobucket where you have organised albums to refer to in your own account.

I think this is a great idea and a good resource but without an organised album structure I don't see the benefits of using it, keeping a list of uploaded urls could just prove impossibly tedious. A lot of the images I store on Photobucket don't have self explanatory file names, just stuff like IMG345.jpg and the such so knowing what was what in such a list would be more than frustrating to figure out.

Not trying to be awkward here but I'm sure I'm not the only one wondering about this so a response would be awesome guys. :drinks:

True Briar. We probably need to ask Chris what happens with the images once they've been used. If you check the design of the service, people are supposed to create an account first. Chris seems to have worked it so we don't need to do that, which I like, as it cuts out all of the steps of logging into a separate account. Guess some special coding will be needed to separate the posts into separate accounts.

It's not a big problem for me however. I usually save the images that I upload to the hard drive of my computer first before I upload them to Gigarank. And if it is an image I'd like to keep for reuse later, I'll be able to find it under my Gigarank/images sub-folder. I don't find that I reuse images that much though. And if I'm really looking for any of my images, I'd be able to track them down in the Forum as I only use them at this Forum. May take some searching first, but I'll probably track them down eventually.

I have started to using our free image host, also I shared it with my friend. It is very handy as DJB said in his post.

Ooh, looks nice! Do the images automatically get deleted after a certain time or something though? I've had that happen to me with other image hosts.

Could be they are deleted Yozora. Not sure about that. I wouldn't use it for images you want to keep. Only images you would like to use quickly. For longer lasting I'd use an image host like Imgur. I use both of them.

Oh, OK! Thanks for the quick reply! I'll use it for those times when I just need quick image hosting, and don't mind if an image is deleted later on then. :)

I have been using this a lot lately!!! I have a tab with the forum open most of the day, and when I need to upload some image, it's easier to use this tool than an external website. :yahoo:

I think they are all in one account that we don't have access to. I don't think you should use it for images you want to reuse later on. Or alternatively, if you use the feature, you should save the image to your hard disk as well.

I use the feature only for images at Gigarank. For outside Gigarank I prefer imgur.

I must admit I never used imgur before, but I saw your recommendation on this forum and created am account there and it looks really fine with a lot of options. So far I used only dropbox and 4share to store my files.

Currently it seems that unless we keep the links we get when we upload the images, we are not able to manage the uploaded images. Hopefully you could find a way to change this in the future, perhaps integrate image hosting with mybb using a mod.
