Why getting servers isn't easy in 2019?

Hello,

I've tried a lot of server providers (DigitalOcean, OVH, Hetzner, and more.) and I noticed that most of them have put hard requirements in order to get access to their order system.

For example:
  • Credit card verification
  • Identity verification (passport, driving license, ID card)
  • Manual review by the team of the company
I was wondering why all those requirements and for servers only? Web hosting and others are easier to order.

Thanks!

I found the same Mario and I'm not happy about it either. I had a fight about this with a VPS provider from Germany when they requested a copy of my picture ID. Particularly because this VPS provider first took payment from me before it asked me for my ID. But one of these days we may not have a choice as Governments seem to get more and more controlling and also able to access everyone's accounts - like particularly with smart phones, and everyone being signed into the smart phone system, things have become so integrated the Government may be able to enforce a rule that all people provide their ID information. Maybe they could go as far as getting one to register with a Government approved ID first. And I guess next thing people will escape to the Dark Web.

Here in Sweden it's really easy to get a server.
No need to send a copy of etc your passport and so on.
The only thing is you need to give them your social number and pay using Visa or Mastercard.
