I would go for 7 because you always can decide if you wanna switch to 10 or not.

Privacy doesnt exist anymore, any operating system will spy on you.

I have had a few hiccups and had to tweak a few settings for the sake of privacy, but I am overall much happier with Windows 10 than Windows 7. Windows 10 seems to be faster to me. Even though "things" are not in the same place in Windows 10 as one would find in Windows 7, it has been more friendly in allowing me to search for answers. I just type in few keywords for what i want to do and most of the time, I have a link or a path to the answer readily available in seconds.
I admit that Windows 10 is not perfect. I hope that future updates will work out some of the kinks. However, Windows 10 does seem to work better than Windows 7 so far.

How can DX 11 be only available for windows 10? It came out well before windows 10 did? I am running it on windows 7 now.

I'm glad I upgraded and I don't think it collects that much data with the 'spy feature' as you called it.

Yet every site, every comment you make is being collected and stored. windows 10 is the only O/S to have this fully implemented with no ways of turning it off. You can reduce it some, but not completely like in other O/S's.

But if you remember the Movie Terminator Genesis, in the movie, it was about a software that everyone was given for free. When activated, it then took control of everything. Is this the same, don't know, but its along the same lines as that.
Look at it this way. XP first came out, its was a few hundred dollars to buy a copy of it, They were all the same when they came out. Sure, now windows 7, or 8 is just under $200 for a legit copy. So, why would M$ give away an O/S? Even if its at $100 a copy. Lets say 3 million people installed it. 100x 3,000,000=300,000,000 . M$ just lost $300million dollars. Could you afford to lose that much money? Sure, this is M$ and they have tons of money. But this is just the start of it. No body gives away something without something in return. There is something brewing. This is also why M$ was silently forcing windows 10 to download in the background on all devices that never upgraded.

You can't control the updates. You can't control privacy as it is completely intrusive not allowing one to make many changes. One can only do that when one upgrades to a higher version of Windows 10. In other words this is a nifty way of Microsoft to get MASSES of people to be hooked with "FREE" and then get them to pay when they want to be more independent with using Windows 10. It's actually brilliant in a way as by getting those who were using pirated versions of Windows they now get to control them much more with the FREE version of Windows 10. Also there is no BETA - again Microsoft is using MASSES of people to try out its new windows software, and in many cases at our expense. Also, Microsoft is flogging some of its own products, by forcing people to upgrade to paid subscriptions. It's planting carrots everywhere.
Only way one will get to be in the same control (more or less) as with Windows 7 presently, is to pay for an upgraded Windows 10, which is probably going to cost the same or maybe more. Free Windows 10 is almost like a free sample of a new Windows.

I understand what you are saying but there is no "free version". There is just a free upgrade. the "free version" as you say is the same as the paid version which you can buy right now. if you go to Herepurchase Windows 10 for your PC through a local retailer or an online retailer like" so there really is no "free version"
so both versions are as you call it, the totally "controlled by Microsoft" version. and you can control the privacy partially. there are options when upgrading/installing to disable some of the features. Not all, but some. i know you are saying you are "paying for it in different ways" but the ways you are "paying" for it are just the disadvantages of the new OS.

Faster??? I found it 3 times slower then 7. Now there is 25 clicks to do what 3 clicks did before. There will be no updates to fix the kinks. Nothing is easy in 10, nor in windows 8, which windows 10 is. I guess if people only use the computer to surf the net, then its ok for them, but anyone who uses a computer to work, it will never last. They add short cuts to the desktop as oppose to the actual program like a real O/S does. Yes, I am whining and harping about it.
You do know the old saying, if it ain't broke, then don't fix it.
