one of the best and cheaper ways of getting windows is to actually by an computer with windows 7 already on it if you dont want the parts then you can take the hdd out and put it in your current pc or transfer and clone the operating system to another storage device with third party software.

If you are just looking for the operating system because you are in luck since newegg

Excellent idea Barnum. This was not my intention, but when I purchased a really great second hand (2010) ThinkPad X210 a few months ago, it came with Windows 7 Professional on it - pre Service Pack 1 as well. I felt I'd got the best part of Windows 7 Professional that way without all of the post Service Pack updates that provided most of the bloat that we have these days thanks to Microsoft's malware update system. The laptop I purchased is just a few dollars more than what a new Windows 7 license would have cost me. No doubt the cost of those licenses are more now since last I purchased a license two years ago as with Windows XP when no longer sold by Microsoft, people charge more for it.

Maybe you can order the installation cd on amazon, but it will take long to ship, unless they giving the key with a download link, or you can always torrent it. Or buy a new computer preinstalled with Windows 7, whatever works for you.

I think you buy Windows 10 or Windows 8.1.
Because Windows 7 don't supported now.

If you meant by feature updates, then yes it's not.
Apart from that, security updates are still valid until some time in 2020.

If you meant by software, most of the popular software are still supporting it.

1. OEM "flavors":

OEM distributions of Windows, once installed onto a machine and registered, are tied to that machine because of the way in which the authentication scheme is generated, which is premised on the motherboard and a few other factors. I'm not saying that this is how it works, but, for illustration and the sake of argument, let's suppose that registration is based upon a hash of the motherboard's manufacturer ID, motherboard serial number, and the Windows OS license key. This, in turn, is stored by Microsoft on their servers, which is how they know that you're trying to install the OEM version on a different machine.

It is possible, however, to call Microsoft directly and ask them very-very-very nicelylegitimately gotten around this barrier several times, like when making a new computer for one of my best friends.

2. Venues for Purchase:
