Why is Windows server so f**king expensive? The linux variations work just fine, so my question is why do Microsoft charge such a hefty fee for the usage of Windows Server?

Apple has been trying really hard to catch up - switching to commodity hardware, changing the OS to be basically a variant of a free OS - and charging twice as much for it ...

That being said - Windows Server is like a server with training wheels. A bike with training wheels make the bike perform horribly, but they still cost more than the bike alone, especially when the guy selling them has to make billions of dollars. They are arguably easier to ride though.
