Winter Holidays: How do you Celebrate?

Winter has a lot of different holidays. Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's, etc. How do you celebrate? Do you put up decorations? Get together with family? Follow special holiday traditions? Do most people celebrate winter holidays where you live?

In the Middle East Xmas is being used by shops etc as an opportunity for marketing their products. More and more every year there are plenty of Xmas trimmings around - HUGE Christmas tree in Dubai Mall. Not many churches in the UAE though, but the few that are there are filled up during Xmas day with expat Christians.

In South Africa where most of my family live, Xmas is a religious event. Go to Church after midnight. Family get together. Exchange of gifts. Plenty of food that last for a few days.
