Wired and Wireless keyboard / mouse: Which is better and why?

I personally prefer playing with a controller when the game will allow it, especially for racing games like Need For Speed. When the option for a keyboard/mouse combo is a must, I find that wired is the way to go for competitive or online play. I used to play League of Legends on a laptop so the keyboard is "wired" but I would also use a wireless Logitech mouse. That was a mistake. I ended up having the battery run out on me halfway through a difficult match and playing with the trackpad on the laptop was a nightmare. Most gaming mice you'll find will also be wired as well and they can have some pretty useful features like Razer's Naga or Logitech's G600.

Bottom line: Wired for competitive or online play. For casual play, it doesn't really matter that much.
