Why install a Wordpress SEO plugin?
WordPress has a pretty good SEO from it self if you do the right settings.

Probably because it's become fashionable for any software or forum or server business trying to promote itself to add this to its list of great features. I've never understood the need for plug-ins any way. As soon as a plug-in takes off, its functions should be incorporated with the main software. Plug-in should only be something new, and once proven popular, added as part of the main software. I'd say that would enhance the security of the software as well.

URL setting, declaring no-index, no-follow, etc most important SEO factors available in the WordPress dashboard itself. But make it more advanced and if your theme is not that much SEO friendly then an SEO plugin will be required. I prefer SEO by Yoast.

IMO they are for who don't know about the powerfulness of available setting of Wordpress or newbs. Or companies/individuals who wish to spend a few more bucks to buy the support offered.

And it can be used to save some learning time if you are unsure about SEO settings in wordpress.

Maybe the same reason as when I checked your Website a week ago. It had the appearance of being inactive. For a Website to stay No.1 it has to be genuinely active. If it took you a week to respond to its suspension, then other people must sense the same lack of energy and inertia from the Website than I had. The No. 1 position in the search results is usually reserved for those who do have active Websites and are working on it every day, in terms of creating active content like making blog posts, creating discussions around the blog posts, creating an active community that comes back almost on a daily basis. For that there has to be interesting and genuine alive content.

I used to think like you and then one day I discovered Wordpress SEO by Yoast and then realised that the default wordpress SEO is not enough if you want your website to get a good rank.

I agree. There's SO many duplicate content with the default settings. Example: archive, categories, author pages...
It's far from optimized, tbh. Yoast can help you drop "category" from the url ( but can't do it for woocommerce product-categories :shout:), noindex the duplicate pages, among many other things.
Seems to redirect changed urls too, but not 100% sure. I thought that was the feature of All in One SEO.

I usually use only title and post id in url and remove all widgets except few useful once. Also noindex all pages like contact and privacy policy. I don't use tags anymore either.

Tags can be very useful in certain cases. Example: creating an image/ woocommerce product slider from totally different categories.
