PHP is only for the server so you must use only html pages!
Beware no html output from php but plain html files!
The second I heard it, I just got up and left...

That you must use tables in your design or that your site should begin with a splash page or using flash for something unncessary.

Listen to Matt Cutts.

If he has his way none of our websites would be ranking, we`d all be paying for Google Adwords.

Most definitely - Adwords is now Google's bread and butter.

Matt Cutts' might be the face of Google - but really he represents the webspam team, not the business side of Google.

If you are Internet Marketer SEO is for Google,Yahoo,Bing and other search engine and not just Google. So you should not fear Google itself. And of course SEO is a never ending learning curve. So if someone tells you they will guarantee you that you make 1st page in Google don't ever believe.

I disagree Pinoy. Users have given Google so much power that together with its Big Brother status and enormous size, as well as billions of dollars, one has to be more than worried about Google when one is employed to show results SEO wise. What I'm beginning to fear more than Google are the dumb people who seem to follow big names slavishly. They are the ones who give Google the power.

I agree with that. That Internet Marketer should not fear Google, yes its important to rank but I think ranking is not that important than to sell something in the web. You are selling to people and not selling Google.

I agree with pinoy. You just do what you're doing and follow the guidelines. It just need to do is that your site should be for users not for search engines and google will love it.

Any one who wants you to believe that SEO is going to put you on the first page of the search engine results forever, without working hard on the content every day. SEO is a tool, not an end result in its own right.

I think LexisNexis is out of place on this list and you may have meant Alexa? LexisNexis provides information to help customers of many different industries help to predict and manage risk -- like security and privacy and stuff. Alexa is a traffic ranking reporter that use an algorithm of their own design to show you where your website ranks as measured on a scale of 1 to the whole Internet!

As regards how this applies to the original topic question, I think that each of the tools/sites listed provides some kind of analytics or ranking score to try and assist you in making better decisions about how you build and market your own website. The problem is that they are often giving this infomation based on self-made algorithms that have little to do with how actual ranking algorithms in the top search engines work while providing products and services that are designed to make your site fair better by their standards even if not by the standards of an actual search engine in use by the public.

The truth is that these sites try hard to mimic the algorithms of search engines, but without having a blueprint of the design -- say, the actual code that Google uses, for example -- there's no way to accurately predict what a search engine spider will do with any website nor is it possible to build an algorithm for ranking when the variables are completely unknown.

Hence, these listed tools/sites/services give the worst advice as its based on their own desire to rank themselves and earn money for services and pseudo-guarantees that they cannot prove have been fulfilled. Worse, they state in terms of service agreements that you have no recourse should these tools or services fail to provide the results you expect or desire.

Agreed. Better to go for all of those listings directly. I've just had a similar experience of using one of those tools, and absolutely no results. The tools are usually self-serving.
